Platera is a virtual plating canvas built for food lovers, chefs, and culinary creators to design beautiful dish presentations before stepping into the kitchen. We know that the ingredients you photograph, the plating layouts you design, and your personal pantry collection are personal creative work — and protecting your privacy is our top priority. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what control you maintain over your data.
1. Information We Collect
We only collect information that is necessary to deliver and improve the Platera experience, split into two categories:
User-Provided Information
- Your creative content: ingredient photos you add to your personal pantry, saved plating schemes, custom plate templates, category organization for your ingredients, and any layer composition work you save. This content is stored locally on your device by default, and only uploaded to our servers if you voluntarily enable cross-device cloud sync.
- Contact information: if you reach out to us for support, feedback, or questions, we will collect your email address and any details you share with us to resolve your request.
Automatically Collected Non-Personal Information
- App performance data: crash logs, interaction patterns (such as how users engage with layer control, drag/rotate/scale tools, or our custom animation effects), and basic device information (screen size, operating system version) to help us optimize performance across devices.
What We Never Collect
We do not collect your location data, your contacts, or any content from your camera or gallery that you do not explicitly choose to add to your Platera pantry. We never sell your personal or creative content to third parties for advertising or any other commercial purposes.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use all collected data solely to operate, improve, and maintain the Platera experience:
- To deliver core functionality: enable cloud sync of your plating projects and pantry across multiple devices, save your work, and let you compare layouts or revisit past designs as intended.
- To refine your experience: fix bugs, optimize the smoothness of interactions (including our elastic drop animation and spring toolbar effects), and build new features that align with how our users actually create.
- To maintain security: prevent unauthorized access to your synced content and block abuse of our services.
- To respond to your requests: address support questions, resolve account issues, and act on your requests to access or delete your data.
3. Data Storage & Security
All your creative work belongs to you, full stop. By default, all your content stays on your own device, and we never access it unless you explicitly enable cloud backup or share it with us for support.
For content you choose to sync to our cloud, we implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction. We only retain your synced data for as long as you keep cloud sync enabled.
You can delete individual projects, your entire pantry, or all your data from our servers at any time directly through the Platera app settings.
4. Third-Party Services
We only work with trusted third-party service providers that help us run and improve Platera, including cloud hosting, crash reporting, and cloud sync infrastructure. We only share the minimum necessary data with these providers, and require all third parties to adhere to strict privacy standards that match our own.
No third party is authorized to use your personal or creative content for their own purposes, including advertising. All third-party providers handle data according to their own privacy policies, which we regularly review to ensure alignment with our commitment to your privacy.
5. Your Rights & Control Over Your Data
We believe all users maintain full control over their own data, regardless of where you access Platera from. You have the right to:
- Access, review, and export a full copy of all your content (pantry, plating schemes, custom templates) at any time
- Delete any or all of your data from our servers and your device at any time
- Opt out of non-essential usage data collection through app settings
- Enable or disable cloud sync for your content whenever you want
- Request corrections or updates to any personal information we hold about you
You can exercise most of these rights directly in the Platera app settings. For additional requests, contact us directly at the email below.
6. Children's Privacy
Platera is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have accidentally collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information immediately. If you believe this has occurred, please contact us.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy periodically to reflect changes to our features or practices. When we make material changes, we will notify all users through an in-app notification, and update the effective date at the bottom of this page. Your continued use of Platera after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. If you do not agree to the changes, you may stop using Platera and delete your data at any time.
